Read-a-thon: Bout of Books 16

Bout of Books
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal.  It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 9th and runs through Sunday, May 15th in whatever time zone you are in.  Bout of Books is low-pressure.  There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional.

For all Bout of Books 16 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog.  - From the Bout of Books team

This will be my second participation in the Bout of Books read-a-thon.  For updates and posts for my Bout of Books 15 participation back in January click here.

A week long read-a-thon DOES seem more appealing than those high impact 24 hour ones, especially if I'm not exactly able to take focused time on reading every hour of every day.  At least I know I'll be able to finish at least one book, even if not more.

Hopefully, I'll definitely do better than I did for the 24 Hour Take Control read-a-thon.

Goals

My more modest goal is to read as many books as I can.  But to be honest, given one week of reading and several books of which I'm sure I'll be able to breeze through, I'm setting my sights to finishing at least three, if not four, books.

Main Goal:  Read 4 books
Bonus Goal:  Read for at least 4 to 8 hours daily

Read-a-thon Hopefuls

Forever Blue by Suzanne BrockmannThe Bride Wore Size 12 by Meg Cabot

The above two books are already two that I'm sure I'll be able to finish within the read-a-thon week.  A cozy mystery and a romantic suspense, both sure to be easy, fun, and exciting reads.  Because I am already planning on finishing Prince Joe before the Bout of Books week starts, it is not on this list.

Following, I'll probably be able to start one or two more book from the ones listed below, and my hope is to be able to finish a fourth before the Bout of Books week is over.  I'm not entirely sure if that's possible, but my goal is four books, so I'm hoping I'll be able to do as much.

I've been drawn to Jayne Ann Krentz's Harmony and Arcane Society worlds lately and am very interested in diving into it--I hear it's good, I've read the prequel novella to Harmony, called Bridal Jitters and found the writing serviceable even if the characters were pretty standard.  So hopefully I'll be able to begin that series since her book Second Sight (written as Amanda Quick) is on my Reading Assignment list.  I hear it's a very vast and intricately woven world that takes place in historical, contemporary, and futuristic times--it sounds uber exciting!

This reading list, of course, is also not excluding any book I might already be reading when the Bout of Books read-a-thon week begins.

(coming soon -- subject to change)
I don't know how often I will update for the Bout of Books week, but I'm probably not going to update daily.  At most, there will be a starting post, a day one update, and at least one or two more updates, and lastly a wrap up.

We shall see how it all works out.

Bout of Books 16: Day 1 Update
Bout of Books 16: Mid-week Update (Days 2, 3, 4)
